the vessel was refitted in 1922 as "Eureka" to serve passengers and automobiles.

Sunday morning drove to Troutdale, OR


Edgefield was built in 1911 as the county poor farm on a 74-acre parcel of farmland. It is now a resort - the stately main building was restored with over 100 guestrooms furnished in turn-of-the-century decor.

Sunday afternoon drove east on the Oregon Scenic Byway along the Columbia River Gorge to Hood River, OR

Timberline Lodge, a National Historic Landmark, is a mountain lodge on the south side of Mount Hood at an elevation of 5,960 feet within the Mount Hood National Forest. Constructed from 1936 to 1938 by the WPA, it was built and furnished by local artisans during the Great Depression. The Lodge was dedicated September 28, 1937 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
